ABOUT US
Dr. jol has been collecting antiques and artifacts for over sixty years. Besides holding a B.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D. the man, behind the museum, has become an icon in the fields of autographs, tribal art, ancient artifacts of the Holy Land, the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars, antique dolls/toys, coins, pottery, bottles, general antiques, etc. Once having amassed acquisitions that numbered in the thousands, jol decided to inaugurate MOCAPA, a traveling museum displaying various eclectic objects (gratis) to: libraries, schools, institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Now, in the twilight of his years the curator has decided to concentrate on his passion for writing and painting. Ergo, jol has begun to deaccession some items from the museum.
Over the many decades of collecting, we realized that we were not owners of an item, but stewards/caretakers and in that sense have an obligation to preserve the past for generations to come. Collecting also became our avocation to display, share, and pass on that which we have collected, to those who will follow us. Only by the study of the past can one move, in empathy, through life with a philosophy of caring, giving, understanding, and loving acceptance of all our brothers and sisters.
